Social Security Disability Claims · Supplemental Security Disability

Are you disabled and no longer able to work? Has your Social Security Disability claim or SSI claim been denied? Are you tired of filling out form after form and being put on hold forever? Are you confused about the disability claim process?

Let us help. We are knowledgeable, caring Social Security lawyers. We understand the complexities of filling Social Security Disability claims and Supplemental Security Income (SSI) claims. We have helped hundreds of people with many different types of disabilities get the benefits they deserve and we may be able to help you. Contact Amick & Stevens to discuss your disability benefits claim.

Understanding Disability Benefits: SSDI/SSD and SSI

SSD and SSI are government programs that provide monthly income benefits to eligible disabled individuals. If your medical condition meets the Social Security Administration's definition of disability and is expected to last at least one year (or lead to death), you may be eligible for disability benefits.

  • Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI): Social Security disability provides monthly income benefits to eligible disabled individuals who have been paying into the Social Security system for at least five of the last ten years. (Generally, people who have been lawfully employed and paying taxes have been paying into the system.)
  • Supplemental Security Income (SSI): Disabled individuals who lack the work experience (and thus have not paid into the Social Security system) may be eligible for monthly Supplemental Security Income benefits. However, individuals with substantial assets or other family income may not be eligible for SSI.

At Amick & Stevens, Attorneys at Law, we have the detailed knowledge to answer questions about any part of the Social Security process.
