If you are suffering from back pain as a result of your job, you may be eligible to receive disability benefits. You will be eligible if your job is covered by social security.

Your back pain will be considered a disability if it prevents you from doing the work you did before or adjusting to other work. Your disability must have lasted one year or must be expected to last one year or result in your death.

You can apply online by visiting the Social Security Administration site. Alternatively you can submit a written application. In your application, you must provide your social security number and proof of your age. You must provide complete details of your back pain, your medical history including the various tests undergone and details of your medications.

Merely claiming that you are disabled by back pain will not suffice. You must also provide details of your work. Your application must also provide details of your family members who are entitled to benefits. You must also submit a completed Form SSA 3368. The amount of compensation you can claim will depend on the nature of your disability and many other factors such as your employment and earning history, your dependents, etc. You must provide proof of your disability.
