Attorney Biographies
Arthur P. Anderson, Esq. Mr. Anderson's practice is limited to representing disability claimants, both long-term employee disability and Social Security disability. Since 1979, Mr. Anderson has successfully represented thousands of Social Security disability claimants, both at the administrative level and before the federal District Courts of Vermont and New York. Two of the cases he successfully handled in the Second Circuit Court of Appeals - Dousewicz v. Harris, and Veino v. Barnhart, not only resulted in substantial benefits to his clients, but also created landmark Social Security Law. He has also successfully represented Social Security claimants in hundreds of cases before the Federal Courts in Vermont and New York. Mr. Anderson is admitted to practice in the State courts of Vermont and New York, federal district courts of Vermont and New York, the Second Circuit Court of Appeals , and is admitted to represent Social Security disability claimants in the State of Florida.
David C. Buran, Esq. Since 1990, Mr. Buran has successfully represented hundreds of clients with serious tax problems before the IRS, the Vermont Department of Taxation, the New York State Department of Taxation and Finance and the United States Tax Court. Mr. Buran's tax practice includes successfully negotiating IRS "offers in compromises" (where the taxpayer pays less than the amount owed), installment agreements, and releases of levy and liens, as well as tax planning for both individuals and business.
Mr. Buran also devotes a significant portion of his practice to (1) elder law/Medicaid law (representation of clients in need of nursing home care), including the drafting of "special needs trusts," (2) estate planning, including sophisticated estate tax planing, drafting of last Wills, "by-pass" trusts, marital trusts, insurance trusts, Q-tip trusts, credit shelter trusts, "dynasty" trusts and charitable trusts, as well as powers of attorney and living wills, (3) probate and the administration of estates, (4) business and corporate law, including the formation/dissolution and representation of corporations, limited liability companies and partnerships, (5) representing disability claimants, both long-term employee disability and Social Security disability, and (6) general civil litigation.
Mr. Buran practices in the states of Vermont and New York and is admitted to practice before the United States Tax Court and the federal district Courts of Vermont and New York. In addition to his law degree from Albany Law School in 1987, Mr. Buran earned a second law degree known as a Masters of Law in Taxation ("LLM in Taxation") from New York University in 1989. During his free time, Mr. Buran enjoys playing a wide variety of acoustic musical instruments, including guitar, mandolin, fiddle and piano.
