About Us


LYLE D. LIEBERMAN practices Social Security Law with offices in Miami and Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. He graduated from Northwestern University and received his Juris Doctorate degree from Northwestern University School of Law in 1956. He is a member of the Florida, Illinois, and District of Columbia Bars.

In 1956 and 1957 he was stationed at the Pentagon, Washington, D.C., as a member of the U.S. Navy. From 1958 through 1978, Mr. Lieberman conducted a trial practice, civil and criminal, in Miami, Florida. In 1978, he was appointed as an Administrative Law Judge with the Social Security Administration. In 1980, he returned to the private sector, limiting his practice to the field of Social Security law.

Mr. Lieberman is a present member of the Council of Past Presidents of the National Organization of Social Security Claimants' Representatives (NOSSCR), and is a frequent lecturer, locally and nationally, on all aspects of Social Security law.

He has been a featured speaker at more than 100 meetings including the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, National Arthritis Association, Lupus Foundation of Florida, Inc., Henderson Mental Health Center, Inc., American Association for Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, South Florida CFIDS Association, South County Mental Health Center, Senior Citizens' Legal Forum, National Association of Health Underwriters, South Dade Life Underwriters, Mental Health Association of Dade County, Inc., Lupus Foundation of Palm Beach County, Inc., Broward County Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy Association, Post-Polio Syndrome Association of Greater Ft. Lauderdale, and the Dade-Broward Lupus Foundation of Florida, Inc.

Mr. Lieberman has lectured at numerous Social Security Legal Seminars, nationwide, including more than 25 occasions for the Florida Bar and the State Bar of Georgia. He has testified before the House Ways and Means Committee Social Security Subcommittee in 1984 and 2000. He also was invited to testify before the Presidential Commission on Pain in 1985.

Mr. Lieberman has been a member of the Editorial Advisory Committee for West's Social Security Reporting Service since its inception. He is "AV" by Martindale-Hubbell, and in 2001 was the only Social Security practitioner selected by the South Florida Legal Guide as one of the top 250 lawyers in South Florida.

In 2003, Mr. Lieberman was appointed by HHS Secretary, Tommy G. Thompson, to serve a three-year term on the Chronic Fatigue Syndrome Advisory Committee (CFSAC).

ROBERT M. GUTIERREZ is a partner with the firm of Lieberman & Gutierrez, PA, with offices in Miami and Ft. Lauderdale. He received his Bachelor's of Science in Criminology degree from Florida State University as well as undergraduate certificates in Law Enforcement and Public Administration. After working as a law enforcement officer for the State of Florida, Mr. Gutierrez attended Nova Southeastern University, School of Law where he received his Juris Doctorate degree. He is a member of the Florida Bar, and the Bars of the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida, and the United States Supreme Court. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the National Organization of Social Security Claimants' Representatives (NOSSCR).

For the past fifteen years, Mr. Gutierrez has dedicated his practice to Social Security Disability and retirement Law. He is a frequent, and highly recognized, lecturer at Social Security Law seminars, both nationwide and locally, and has appeared in a nationally televised morning broadcast addressing various Social Security Disability and Retirement issues. Mr. Gutierrez served as vice-chair of a Florida Bar Grievance Committee for Miami-Dade County, and is a former part-time lecturer at Barry University ACE, School of Health Care Administration, where he taught Health Law for over nine years. Mr. Gutierrez handles all aspects of a disability claim for the firm, including the writing of appellate briefs.

MARIA E. QUANT joined the Law Firm of Lieberman & Gutierrez, PA as an associate on March 6, 2006. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Florida International University. She subsequently received her Master's Degree in Public Administration from Nova Southeastern University. She then attended Nova Southeastern University Shepard Broad Law Center as a Dean's Fellow where she received her Juris Doctorate degree. She was the Recipient of the Student Bar Association's President's Award and the Recipient of the Broward County Hispanic Bar Association Scholarship.

She is a member of the Florida Bar. Prior to joining the Firm, and while attending law school, Ms. Quant worked for the School Board of Miami-Dade County for over seven years. She completed her clerkship at the School Board's Attorney's Office. She is a sustaining member of the National Organization of Social Security Claimants' Representatives. Ms. Quant has dedicated her practice to Social Security Disability and Retirement law.
